Yejju Gouthama Rao holds M.Com Degree from Andhra University and was a Gold Medalist for having stood University First. He did his PhD from the same university in ‘Financial Management in Public Sector Undertakings’.
He is a fully qualified Cost and Management Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWA). He worked in Andhra University for eight years between 1981 and 1988 before leaving India on an international teaching assignment.
He worked in the Zambia Institute of Management as Head of Accounting and Finance and also as Deputy Director for seven years. He then joined the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS), a European Funded Project as Deputy Director and later got promoted as Technical Director. He later became the Director (CEO) and worked for 11 years. He was instrumental in turning around the Institute and making it financially viable with significant surpluses. The Institute under his leadership implemented several best practices in corporate governance in order to achieve transparency and accountability. It also enjoyed the highest level of accreditation from overseas professional bodies and consistency produced top-10 world ranks in the prestigious international examinations.
He has in total 39 years experience in lecturing on Post Graduate Courses and Professional Courses in Accounting and Finance, out of which 31 years on the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Course, the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK course and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK course and the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA), USA course. He specializes in Advanced Corporate Reporting, Management Accounting and Strategic Financial Management. He designed and conducted several general and organization-specific Executive Development Workshops for CEOs and Senior Managers and was actively involved in designing turnaround strategies for companies that have serious financial problems.
